Chairman's Message


Dear Fellow Members of the American Society of Baking;

I personally invite you to attend BakingTech 2016, the Best Week in Baking!  No other industry meeting has as many baker and allied attendees, as many opportunities to network with your partners, or as many technical sessions that provide industry best practices you can put to work as soon as you get home.

The theme of the conference is “Growth Through Innovation”.  Program Chair Mark Hotze and the Program Committee have developed a conference that will challenge you to question what innovations you can incorporate into your business to create growth in production, growth in sales and most importantly, growth in profitability.

Industry Keynote speakers, including William Toler, President/CEO of Hostess Brands and Kat Cole, Group President of FOCUS Brands, will talk about innovations in production, marketing and distribution that have led to growth in their market segments.  

Technical Sessions will focus on innovations in ingredients that are being driven by legislation and the move to Clean Label and away from PHOs.  Following up last year’s panel on GMOs will be a discussion of the current state of traditional and GMO wheat breeding programs.

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience virtual welding, spray painting and carpentry.  Virtual Reality opens the door to a new way of training, but also new ways for saving time and increasing effectiveness.  How could your business use virtual reality tools for training, inspections or perhaps even a Field Acceptance Test?

BakingTech 2016 is a terrific opportunity for you to network with your baking industry peers, strengthen your business relationships and kick-start your own ideas concerning innovations in your business which will result in sustainable growth.
