For individuals employed in the commercial baking industry, the Societyís Professional Development Center is designed to foster skill building and promote professional competency.  It is a peer-based recognition program integrating training and professional development with core values of community, integrity, education, collaboration, leadership and excellence.  The program provides a defined career path using competency standards as a benchmark for employee development.

The Society's Professional Development Process is a two-tiered certification program, supported by an Internet Learning Management System.  Depending on where you are in your career, you can embark on one of two tracks:
 

  • Paraprofessional Certification as a Bakery Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor
  • Professional Recognition Status  as a Professional Baker, Professional Bakery Engineer or Professional Supplier

  • Once the process begins, ASB tracks your progress through its Internet-based Learning Management System.  Each applicant will have a personal password protected file, accessible only to him/herself.  Your records will reflect your progress. When completed each recipient is awarded with a 9"x12" engraved plaque and lapel pin presented during the ASB annual conference. In addition Certifiied Engineers will received a customized uniform patch to wear.
