 BakingTech 2016 Educational Session Schedule**

Monday, February 28, 2016
   8:30 am - 12:00 pm: Opening General Session
   2:00 pm - 4:00 pm: General Session

Tuesday, March 1, 2016
   9:30 am - 10:30 am: General Session
   10:45 am - 12:15 pm: Technical Breakout Sessions
   1:30 pm - 3:00 pm: Technical Breakout Sessions
   3:15 pm - 4:00 pm: Closing General Session

 Program Committee
The Conference Program Committee is comprised of the Officers of the Society, the Program Chair and three assistants, and eight Session Chairs. The Session Chair works directly with the speakers assigned to their session. It is their responsibility to support you through your preparation process and at the conference. The entire Program Committee will review your work and then submit comments and feedback to you through the Session Chair.

 Length of Presentation
Papers presented during technical breakout sessions on Tuesday should be approximately 45 minutes in length, which includes 5 - 10 minutes for questions and answers. It is strongly encouraged that each presenter also prepare two questions that can be used to initiate the Questions & Answers Session.


 Presentation Format
Final presentation is usually a text prepared speech supported with Powerpoint slides (Windows or MacIntosh). Use of Video is also encouraged. (See commercialism policy.)  A presentation tip guide has been provided for your use.

The BakingTech 2016 PowerPoint template should be used for all BakingTech presentations.


 Presentation Planning Process
The presentation process consists of three steps - a summary of your presentation, a draft of your PowerPoint presentation and a final draft of your PowerPoint presentation. The following deadlines are used by the Program Planning Committee as a means of managing the entire process.  For those speakers who submitted a formal proposal through the BakingTech 2016 Call for Papers, the summary of your presentation has already been received.

  • Summary of Presentation - November 30, 2015
    The summary of your presentation must be a brief description of what you plan to present along with three (3) learner outcomes.  This information will be used in BakingTech 2016 marketing and promotional materials.  See a sample summary by clicking here.
  • PowerPoint Draft - December 15, 2015
  • Final PowerPoint - January 29, 2016

The Program Committee uses an electronic means of evaluating and commenting on presentations. All materials should be sent to


 Speaker Expectations

  1. Meet posted deadlines for submitting logistical information, registering for the conference, draft presentations, etc.
  2. Use ASB templates when creating PowerPoint and/or Word/PDF resource materials.
  3. Ensure that the content and delivery of your presentation follows what is printed in the brochure and posted on the ASB website.  Attendees read the brochure and the education session information, which gives them a reason to attend.  They will expect the information in the brochure and online will be what is delivered onsite at the conference.
  4. Be sure you know your audience for this conference and create your presentation accordingly.
  5. Review materials that ASB staff send you and participate in any speaker orientation offerings.


 Registration and Travel Information

Travel Information

  • ASB will provide lodging at the conference hotel (Hilton Chicago) for up to four (4) nights.
  • Information on hotel reservations will be available mid-October


  • As a presenter, your registration fees will be waived.  The cost of registration includes access to the ASB MarketPlace, all educational sessions, receptions and luncheons.
  • Information concerning registration will be available in mid-October

Honorarium & Expense Reimbursement

  • No honorarium will be provided.
  • Speakers will be reimbursed for a round-trip, economy/coach class airfare ticket from their home city to Chicago. 
  • Ground transportation to and from airport is reimburseable

Speaker Forms (If you submitted your paper proposal through the ASB online BakingTech 2016 Call for Papers, the below information is not required.  This information was collected upon your final submission)


 Commercialism Policy
All presentations must adhere to the ASB's commercialism policy.  Please do not include industry, trade, or product names in your presentation.  Generic terms should be used instead of trade names.  Any trade names will be changed to their generic or component name.  The use of company or product names as a means for promotions/advertising is strictly prohibited.  For more information concerning the Society's commercialism policy, click here.

 Preparation Meeting
On Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. we will host a Speaker meeting to review the final details regarding staging and your presentation. We encourage all speakers to attend. If you are unable to do so, please inform your Session Chair.
